Hey everyone! Welcome back. Today I’m going to show you how you can get Amazon Brand approval for your products without having a registered trademark.
Getting Amazon brand registry can be really beneficial for branding your products and protecting your listings from hijackers. But to enroll in the Amazon brand registry, you need to have a registered trademark which costs more than $200.

Amazon actually allows you to use your brand name, even if it’s not trademarked yet. If you are a beginner and you need to use your brand when you are listing your products, you can use this method.
When you registered your trademark, you can apply Amazon brand registry and enjoy the benefits. So I’ll walk you through the step-by-step process I used to get Brand approved.

Step 1: Check Your Brand Name
Before you request approval for a brand on Amazon, it’s better to check whether that brand is already trademarked.
If you are selling on the Amazon US site, you can use the “Trademark Electronic Search System (TESS)” to search for your trademark. This site is the official site of the “United States Patent and Trademark Office”.

Tick the “Live” button, so it gives only the currently live trademarks. Then type in your brand name and search. If you get this message, no other company has taken your brand name. So you can use it for your products.
Step 2: Get into Brand Request Application
First, you have to get into the brand request application, it is the same process to get the GTIN exemption.
To get started, log into your Seller Central account and select “Catalog” from the menu bar at the top. Then choose “Add Products“.
On the Add Products page, click the button that says “I’m adding a product not sold on Amazon“. This will start the process of creating a brand new listing.

Next, it will ask you to select the product category and subcategory that best fits your item. On the Product Identity page, enter your brand name. Then under External Product ID, make sure to check the box that says “I don’t have a product ID“.
Then a small link will appear to apply for Amazon’s GTIN exemption, click “Apply Now”. This directs you to the brand approval request form.

Step 3: Get Approval for the New Brand
Once you get to this page, you have to choose the product category again. Enter your brand name here, then click “check for eligibility”. Your new brand needs approval; click the “request approval” link. It will redirect you to the application form.

You need to select the full product category here. Use the search box to find the most relevant category for your product.
Below, you have to submit two or more images of the product and the packaging that display your brand on them. The brand name should match exactly what you applied, and it should be permanently fixed to the product or the packaging.

You’ll also need to verify your identity and provide contact info. Double check everything is accurate before submitting.
And that’s it! Amazon says the review process can take up to 2 business days. So hang tight and keep checking your email.
With any luck, you’ll get approved and can start managing your brand! Let me know in the comments if you have any questions.
